Band Review: CLOCKWORK ASYLUM

CLOCKWORK ASYLUM
The title "Faltered" reminds me of the band Stone Sour in its own way. It's totally metal, classic, and well-structured. They are professionals. The studio sounds are synchronized, without parasiting effect additions like some other bands actually do. Too much sound effects can pollute the result we were expecting, so it can be more disappointing to listen to. The vocals and clear and we can hear Nordic influences (that’s my point of view), for example Ensyferum (Guardians Of Fate). Faltered is all about falling (maybe in a spiritual or philosophical way) when someone’s fighting in life. This track is inviting us to go ahead and fight, while still standing. Listening to "Box of Crosses” no doubt feels like listening to Corey Taylor's vocal doppelganger with the beginning sounding like "A Perfect Circle". I have noticed melancholy in the whole song even without paying attention to the lyrics when the two singers hold their voices in unison. After reading the lyrics, I concluded my own emotions were connected to this magisterial opus. "Only one person is missing and the whole world seems depopulated", and the vocalist is making us feel it for real. This is what we like in AEA Zine, bands who have balls to share musical emotions with us. Once I thought I learned things in art and music, thanks to some artists I had to open my eyes. I had to "Unlearn" this song sounds like hard-rock, well-structured and technical. Strange that it reminded me of Suicidal Tendencies ("Nobody Hears"). In conclusion, Clockwork Asylum is a metal band we like to listen to. It sticks great to the ears; they rock with several musical influences that make them a great reference. -Abyss Forgottentomb

The three songs at this link are a preview of Clockwork Asylum's debut EP, scheduled for release this fall/winter. -DW
