Poem: 'Cold as Hell' by Jerry Langdon

Cold as Hell

Why is it so cold?
Frost creeps up the walls.
Crystaline vines crawl.
Slithering disembodied tentacles.
I don't know how I got here,
or where here is.
I'm naked to the bone
and all but alone.
I hear the shuffle of unknown.
Somewhere in the frosty fog.
That bites my tongue
and stabs my lungs.
Every breath is wrung.
Screams would be lost to ice.
My flesh crawls with a thousand pins.
My frigid exposed skin
burns and detaches from within.
Every movement rakes pain over me.
I wander getting nowhere
through this icy air.
Plagued by despair.
Lost in the Nether alleys.
I wander through this dark maze
frozen mind in a daze.
Through this frosty haze.
Where it is cold as Hell.
