Regarding U.S. Military Involvement
Article by Damien Lee Thorr

One may ask, “what is the difference between the US involvement in the Vietnam War and the more recent military strife in the Middle East?”
Answer: MARKETING.
The U.S. meddles where it should not at the cost of countless lives and disabling our economy but have been making it like we are heroes and saviors of the world.
Current politicians are proposing cutting Social Security programs designed to benefit our people in order to fund war and weaponry. This is insanity and would be nothing but a failure to the American people.
The Vietnam War produced a counterculture of people who protested the war and it was criminalized to object to the war when young men were drafted.
Now, it seems current soldiers are venerated when they are serving in the Middle East in a war with countries that the U.S. has once again meddled in. No matter how they present it, it does not change the fact that this war is also pointless.
Having an army, weapons and military systems is crucial to defend our nation when threatened but we have no business being involved in lands thousands of miles away. I don’t believe in assisting other nations with expensive military action when we have homeless people on the streets and very poor people out there who struggle daily who do not receive services for help because the system in place is designed that way.
The U.S. has accepted refugees from many countries, which is fine, but there is no reason to go in and fight their battles, especially when we profit nothing from it.
