Full Length Review: Fluids "Ignorance Exalted" (Maggot Stomp) by Devin Joseph Meaney

Band: Fluids
Location: Phoenix, Arizona
Country: USA
Genre: Death/grind
Full length: Ignorance Exalted
Format: CD, digital
Label: Maggot Stomp
Release date: May 1, 2020
I have once again stumbled upon the Phoenix, Arizona death/grind band Fluids. Again, it is already known to me that I dig this stuff. But it seems as if Fluids have put out a full-length in 2020... and as I was feeling like a trip to the mortuary anyway, I put on my rubber gloves and prepared for a descent into a modern release of death/grind sickness.
First and foremost, I need to state the likeness to Mortician. Not to say that both bands sound exactly the same. But I dare say there is a bit of Mortician influence on this album... and even if it is un-intentional, the overall sound is pulled off well and Fluids manages to rock my cranium with their filthy strings, vocalizations, and demonic percussion.
The vocals are a bit rough and distorted... but as for the guitar and drums everything is absolute mastery. I'd even go out on a limb and state that the programmed drums actually add to the music. I like the way they turned out (maybe I'm a bit biased, I was always pro-machine anyway) and I feel as if organic drums on this may have lessened the sound. (I may be wrong!)
Released May 2020 (cassette, CD, digital and 12" vinyl format) by Maggot Stomp; I encourage fans of the devilishly heavy and distorted to check this out... I mean, you don't need to be the county medical examiner to properly indulge... right? Right? –Devin Joseph Meaney
