So, who's in the mood for something unique and interesting? I know I sure am! And today we have the definition of this with the latest single/extravaganza 6-minute track by instrumentalist The Great Kat.
An artist I never heard of until the other week and after listening to this, I don’t think she’ll be easy to forget!
What this is (in a nutshell) is a combination of sounds and styles to illustrate the sonic diversity of Kat.
At the start, you have classical music rendered with Power Metal style guitar work, with the opening act ‘Offenbach’ being the example of the rendering.
While listening to this portion it gave me a strong ‘Yngwie Malsteen’ vibe with the way the guitar was being played, the precision, and of course the speed!
There’s also a really cool ‘Wild West’ themed part where she plays the violin! It’s a trademark sound that you will have heard in your lifetime and this version is just as good (if not better) than any other style you’ll hear played!
Then for her second part she plays a brutally shredded rendition of the composer ‘Niccolo Paganini’.
This part is just pure talent and guitar mastery, from the speed to the partners, the notes, the delivery everything is equally chaotic but also done without missing a step. It truly is incredible what she’s able to do at such velocity on the guitar, definitely the more intense part of the track so far.
And then for the final act, just pure guitar finesse and skill the likes really seen.
If you think Thrash Metal guitarists are hardcore? Then you ain’t seen NOTHING yet! This woman would destroy half of the Thrash Metal bands without breaking a sweat! It’s absolutely unreal!
If you’re a fan of fast-paced shredding, then this is definitely the place for you! What a work of art!
Definitely go check this track out, if only for the marvelous art alone! It’s fast, relentless, brutal and unforgiving! Go support her and all her work!
Well-deserved and well played! -Corban Skipwith
