Poem: "A Good Stiff Morning" by Robert McDermott

A Good Stiff Morning
Robert McDermott

I woke up and noticed my morning glories were wilted
My penis was not
I peed on them

They awakened, too
My flagpole did the job
Then it slowly wilted
Transference does work

My morning rituals began
Diet soda and cigarettes
Work like car jumper cables
The transmission sputters a bit

Then, I'm ready to face the world
Start a new day
In my personal way
A half mast flag is not enough

For Mourning
