Poem: 'Voices Flicker!' by Rich Orth

Voices Flicker!

Candlelight extinguished
Each end ended
Wicks... conspicuous by their absence
Burnt into winsome
How upon my mind it remains
Wax dripping... slipping
Upon shapes shaping
Shifting... blame
Simplistic shame
Tonight.... this night
One exclaims......
Why's and wherefores
Disguised folklore
Thinly veiled truths
Soothe little
As darkness prevails
Assails my psyche
Whereby we
Allow voices victory
Succumb
Numbed....
Creativity's flame stifled
Suffocated....
Placated by irrational reasons
Seizing my day...
Manipulating their way
Upon paths once only...only
traveled by me
Now travailed...
For all to see
