Poem: 'Arson' by Sarah McKellar

Arson
By Sarah McKellar

Burning, crackling,
falling fast,
Your house of gods,
reclaimed at last,
happy, exalted,
feeling free,
Goodbye house of lies ,
My victory,
No more hatred,
no more pain,
Smoke in the sky,
we're free again.
Running, hiding,
the earth beneath my feet,
I flee to the forest,
My souls sacred retreat.
Feeling wild and free,
They're all dead now,
But I have not finished,
This they will see.
I removed a blight from the land,
That my family once held dear,
I have not finished,
They'll live in fear.
