Poem: 'Into Thin Air' by Laura Petellat

Into Thin Air

I see you.
The lights
The clothes
The whirling streamers
They are all distractions
I see you
The time
The effort
The compilation of energy
The heart spent on paper
I see you
In fantasy
In reality
This awkward dance
This loss of self
For so long you have pretended.
You pretend to be something you are not.
Security is alien to you.
Ego is a foreign word.
Bravado is the make up you wear.
Courage is the lock of maine to hide your eyes.
Like a cat you slink a fine line
Heaven and Hell at war in your head
Lost is all you know
Fear eats your soul
Lonely so you can never lose again.
For all your fantasies my darling,
I see you.
