Respire
Independent
Today I got a chance to check out Cepheide, a Black Metal band from France. While listening to them I decided to check out their EP “Respire” which was released in July of 2015 independently. I found it interesting; even though it only contains two songs it is still over 35 minutes in length and provides us with a lot to listen to.
Both tracks “Le souffle brûlant de l’immaculé” and “La chute d’une ombre” are very ambient and melodic in sound. The intros might come off as slow and mysterious in a way at first but then it later picks up with an outbreak of blast beats but in a way does not abandon their dark sound. Though it might have repetition it is definitely not a problem. The instruments really stand out in this EP and gives it a very ambient feeling as do their voices.
They did keep it simple and did not really step out of their boundaries but it was still straight forward black metal, has great speed, impressive sound and passion from within. I am looking forward to hearing a full length album one of these days. Make sure to check out Cepheide’s EP “Respire” on their Bandcamp account and check them out on Facebook.
