Video Review: CARVED Lilith

CARVED
Taken from the album "Kyrie Eleison," Italian melodic death metal band Carved offer up a highly polished and well produced release. The video is set alternatively between a forest and the band playing in presumably what is a rehearsal space. Thematically, the video explores questions of faith versus paganism in a modern world. Musically, it ticks all the boxes with clean vocals in the chorus section and typical growls in the verses. The song provides opportunity for the lead guitar to do their solo, the drums to showcase irregular time signatures and have it all wrapped up in under five minutes. As melodic death metal is probably my least favourite style currently in favour within metal, I can say care was taken with the cinematography. This is what saves the video and captures the viewer’s attention. The music is not bad by any means, but the band suffers from being “one of yet another melodic death metal band.” For fans of Amon Amarth, modern Dimmu Borgir, In Flames and Soilwork. -Simon Brown
