Poem: 'Damned' by Debbie Dixon

Damned
By Debbie Dixon, 2014

Go ahead and judge me
While standing your moral ground
Throw your golden rules at me
Without making a single sound

Pray you for my soul
While chanting that blessed vow
Cleanse the only way that you know
Striking the innocent child across the brow

Tell your god to forgive the deeds
You have hidden beneath the white dress
Hide them there among the high weeds
Where all is lost to the lie of what is best

Yes you are perfectly qualified to inspect the lamb
But unaware that you stare into the eyes of the wolf
And I will pray on your soul that you will be damned
As the flames of hells fire rise higher to fully engulf
