Article: "Pagan-Themed Science Based Meditation" by Goddess Rosemary Sahjaza

Pagan-Themed Science Based Meditation
"Harmony of Nature and Cosmos"
by Goddess Rosemary Sahjaza

Find a quiet, comfortable space where you can sit or lie down. If possible, surround yourself with natural elements—like plants, crystals, or candles. Close your eyes, and take a few deep breaths to center yourself.

Meditation

Grounding with Nature:
- Inhale deeply, visualizing roots growing from the base of your spine into the earth. Feel the solid ground beneath you, the heartbeat of the Earth, alive and vibrant.
- Exhale slowly, releasing any tension or worries. Imagine them sinking into the soil, nourishing the ground.

Embracing the Elements
- Bring to mind the four elements—Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. With each element, connect it to a scientific principle:
- Earth Visualize soil rich with nutrients and micro-organisms, understanding the ecosystems that thrive beneath surface.
- Air Feel the oxygen flowing into your lungs, the invisible yet vital gas produced through photosynthesis by plants.
- Fire Imagine the warmth of the sun, the nuclear fusion that powers it, allowing life to flourish on our planet.
- Water Contemplate the water cycle, recognizing the importance of this precious resource in sustaining life, and its molecular structure as H₂O.

Connecting with the Cosmos
- Expand your mind’s eye beyond Earth. Visualize the stars suffused with vibrancy, each representing different galaxies and billions of years of cosmic history.
- Reflect on the Big Bang, the beginning of time and space, and your unique place within this vast universe.
Unity with Nature
- Affirm your connection to the natural world. Repeat silently: "I am a part of the Earth, the elements, and the cosmos. I honor this connection."
- Feel the energy of the universe flowing through you. Recognize that you, a being of matter and consciousness, are composed of stardust.

Gratitude and Intention
- As you draw this meditation to a close, express gratitude for the beauty of nature and the wonders of science. Visualize how your intentions harmonize with the world around you.
- Formulate a clear intention related to your journey—whether it's healing, understanding, or connection.

Returning to Awareness
- Begin to bring your awareness back to the present moment. Wiggle your fingers and toes, gently open your eyes, and take a moment to appreciate your surroundings.
- Carry the peaceful energy of this meditation with you into your daily life, feeling anchored in the balance of nature and the cosmos.

The goal of this meditation is to create a profound sense of connection and understanding between the underlying principles of pagan theology and the wonders of modern science.

Meditation March 4 2025
Article by Goddess Rosemary Sahjaza

Starting with a quote:
“Sounds like science fiction, but "memory reconsolidation" is a promising new strategy that combines memory reactivation and the beta blocker propranolol to make traumatic memories less painful.” *
Meditation and information
Memory reconsolidation sounds like science fiction, yet it represents a groundbreaking advancement in our understanding of the human mind.
This innovative strategy involves reactivating traumatic memories while administering the beta blocker propranolol, which dampens the emotional intensity of those memories. By engaging with the experience of a traumatic event during therapy, the neural pathways associated with that memory can be altered.
This process allows individuals to recontextualize their memories, rendering them less painful and more manageable.
As we delve deeper into the intricacies of memory, this method offers hope for countless individuals grappling with trauma—transforming distressing recollections into less impactful echoes of the past.
Memory reconsolidation not only challenges traditional notions of memory but also signifies an evolving landscape of psychological treatment, bridging the gap between cutting-edge science and emotional healing.
In an era where mental health is increasingly prioritized, such innovative approaches are truly illuminating pathways toward recovery.

She has extensively studied memory reconsolidation and its implications for trauma and recovery. If you're looking for specific sources or works by her, I would recommend exploring her published research articles or books that discuss memory and trauma.

Article: "Meditation: Conquering the Fear of Threats and the Unknown" by Goddess Rosemary Sahjaza

December 9 2024

Meditation:
Conquering the Fear of Threats and the Unknown

In today's fast-paced world, many individuals face anxiety driven by reproductive threats and the uncertainties of the future. Whether it's worries about fertility, pregnancy, or the general unpredictability of life, these fears can spiral out of control, leading to overwhelming anxiety. However, meditation offers a powerful tool to combat these challenges.

Here’s how meditation can help:
Understanding the Roots of Fear and Anxiety
Fear often stems from the unknown. In the context of reproduction, concerns can range from personal health, societal expectations, to the complexities of parenthood. The unpredictability of the future can trigger anxiety, causing individuals to focus on worst-case scenarios rather than being present in the moment. Acknowledging these fears is the first step towards overcoming them.

Promoting Mindfulness Meditation encourages mindfulness, helping individuals stay grounded in the present. By focusing on the here and now, one can reduce the tendency to spiral into anxiety over what might happen in the future.

Reducing Stress Hormones
Regular meditation practices can decrease levels of cortisol (the stress hormone) in the body, which can help in alleviating anxiety.

Improving Emotional Regulation
Meditation enhances one's ability to manage and regulate emotions. This increased emotional intelligence can lead to a reduced fear response in stressful situations.

Enhancing Self-Awareness
Through meditation, individuals can cultivate a deeper understanding of their thoughts and fears. This self-awareness allows for a more constructive approach to addressing these fears instead of letting them control one’s thoughts and actions.

Techniques of Meditation to Combat Anxiety
Breath Awareness
Focus on your breath. Inhale deeply through your nose, hold for a moment, and exhale slowly through your mouth. This simple technique can help anchor your thoughts and reduce the intensity of anxiety.

Guided Visualization
Imagine a safe space or a comforting scenario where you feel calm and secure. Visualization can help ease fears concerning reproduction and the unknown, allowing the mind to explore positive outcomes.

Loving-Kindness Meditation
This practice involves sending love and compassion to yourself and others. By fostering self-love, individuals can combat negative self-talk that may arise from fears about reproduction.

Body Scan
Engage in a body scan meditation where you focus on each part of your body, relaxing any areas of tension. This technique can help promote relaxation and reduce the physiological symptoms of anxiety.

Integrating Meditation into Daily Life

Start Small
Begin with just a few minutes a day, gradually increasing the duration as you become more comfortable with the practice.

Create a Routine
Consistency is key. Find a specific time that works for you, whether it's in the morning to start your day with clarity or at night to wind down.

Seek Support
Consider joining a meditation group or using meditation apps that offer guided sessions tailored to anxiety relief.

Meditation serves as a valuable ally in the battle against the fear of reproduction and the uncertainties of the future. By incorporating meditation into daily life, individuals can equip themselves with tools to face their fears head-on, transforming anxiety into a source of strength and resilience. Embrace the journey towards calmness, letting meditation guide you through life's uncertainties. Remember, the path to serenity begins with a single breath.

Article: Meditation on Overcoming Unfulfilled Expectations by Goddess Rosemary

Meditation on Overcoming Unfulfilled Expectations
Goddess Rosemary, November 30, 2024

As we gather today for our meditation, let us take a moment to reflect on the theme of unfulfilled expectations. Often, our lives are shaped by the hopes and dreams we carry. We envision futures where our aspirations become reality, but what happens when those visions do not manifest as we imagined?

Acknowledging Feelings
Begin by finding a comfortable position, allowing your body to relax. Close your eyes gently and take a few deep breaths. Inhale slowly through your nose, feeling your chest rise, then exhale through your mouth, releasing tension.
With each breath, acknowledge any feelings of disappointment or frustration that may arise from unmet expectations. It’s important to validate these emotions; they are part of the human experience. Allow them to wash over you, recognizing that it’s okay to feel this way.

Nature of Expectations
Now, let’s turn our attention to the nature of expectations themselves. Often, we build our lives around certain outcomes, imagining how things should be. Consider what expectations you have held onto tightly. Picture these expectations as balloons that you are gripping firmly in your hands.

Cut cords & Letting Go
As we meditate, imagine slowly releasing these balloons into the sky. With each breath, feel the weight of these expectations lift from your hands. Watch as they float away, recognizing that you are not defined by what you planned but rather by how you choose to respond to life's unfolding journey.

Embracing Present
Redirect your focus to the present moment. Take in your surroundings, the sounds around you, the warmth of the air against your skin. Engage fully with the ‘now.’ This moment is your reality. Instead of longing for what could have been, appreciate what is available to you.
Consider the gains you have made in your life, the lessons learned from every experience, both fulfilled and unfulfilled. Reflect on how challenges can foster resilience and growth. In this space of acceptance, find solace in knowing that the journey itself, with all its ups and downs, is what shapes who we are.

Gratitude
As we near the end of our meditation, let’s cultivate gratitude. Think of three things that you are thankful for today. Allow this gratitude to fill your heart, transforming feelings of disappointment into a source of strength.
With this newfound perspective, take a few more deep breaths, anchoring in this sense of peace and acceptance. When you are ready, gently bring your awareness back to the room, wiggling your fingers and toes, and slowly opening your eyes.

Remember, unfulfilled expectations are not failures; they are merely stepping stones on our path. By letting go and accepting what is, we empower ourselves to embrace the journey ahead, full of untold possibilities.
Thank you for joining in this meditation. May you carry this sense of acceptance and gratitude into the rest of your day.

Article: "Music's Evolution in New York City" by Rosemary Sahjaza

"Music's Evolution in New York City"
Article by Rosemary Sahjaza

Music has often been a reflection of societal changes, and the closure of taverns and dance clubs has profoundly impacted its evolution. These spaces historically served as breeding grounds for creativity, where musicians gathered to collaborate, share ideas, and draw inspiration from one another. With their decline, opportunities for spontaneous performances and communal experiences have diminished, leading to a homogenization of musical styles. Instead of the diverse sounds that emerged from vibrant local scenes, we now find a more commercialized musical landscape. The isolation of artists limits their ability to innovate, suggesting that the heart of music's evolution lies in community interaction and cultural exchange.

Dark Moon Ritual, October 2021
Article by Liath Sahjaza

Welcome to this month’s Dark Moon ritual. from 2021 repeat she is not able to create one this month but will soon ... and so ... for This month finds us in Libra, which means you might be feeling more talkative and social. Libra is a sign with many positive traits and beneficial energies, so kicking the month off with a healthy dose of Libran energy is not a bad thing.
Dark Moon is the time for closures, to rid yourself of the bad energies of the past weeks and only take what serves you in the future. If you haven’t cut cords, please do so. It truly is a lifesaving practice.
A Libran influence is typically one of balance and peacekeeping. It is the sign represented by a set of scales after all. If you've found yourself struggling with a work/life balance, or with setting boundaries amongst your relationships, this Dark Moon marks a point of reset that will help you recalibrate. It will push you to weigh the value in the things and people around you and find a better alignment in your own life. I hope by now that you all accept that it is truly okay to cut toxic things and people from your lives.
Of course, there is always a flipside of which to be wary. Libra is extroverted, chatty and highly social. With Mercury currently in retrograde and confusing our lines of communication, now is not the ideal time to be embracing the overly talkative or even gossipy sides of ourselves. More than usual, things can be taken out of context. So, while you may feel more inclined to make a snide comment, for the next few weeks, it's best to live by the idea that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.
For our meditation, I feel the need to go deep inside and search for those cords that need to be cut. As you do this, focus on loving yourself. Be confident that you deserve the best, and therefore need these cords to be cut. As you cut them, focus on resetting yourself. Think of how much better your life will be without these negativities. Stand strong in your power as you place personal boundaries wherever you need them. If there are people you must be around even after cutting them loose, learn to just not react or feel anything when they are around. Yes, you can train yourself to do this. They do not deserve the energy you put into being bothered by them, and you deserve better. Lift yourself up, hug yourself.
Thank you all for sharing this event with me. Much love and dark blessings.

Article: "Mabon balance" by Unknown

Mabon balance
by Unknown
Forwarded by Goddess Rosemary Sahjaza

Mabon is the season of the autumnal equinox. It's a time of year when many of us in the Pagan community take a few moments to give thanks for the things we have. Whether it's our health, the food on our table, or even material blessings, this is the perfect season to celebrate the abundance in our lives. Try including this simple prayer in your Mabon celebrations.

Mabon Balance Rite
Equal hours of light and darkness
we celebrate the balance of Mabon,
and ask the gods to bless us.
For all that is bad, there is good.
For that which is despair, there is hope.
For the moments of pain, there are moments of love.
For all that falls, there is the chance to rise again.
May we find balance in our lives
as we find it in our hearts.

Article: "Sahjaza September Dark Moon Ritual" by Heop Liath Sahjaza

Sahjaza September Dark Moon Ritual
by Heop Liath Sahjaza

Welcome to our September Dark Moon ritual. This month finds us in Virgo, so, the spiritual meaning of the September 2024 new moon is overcoming fear and worry. With this moon phase we will need to face melancholia. Prepare yourself, because the energies right now are not positive, but you can make of it what you choose. With so much bad news and negativity in the world today, it is important to continue self care and remember that we can bring a bright future to fruition.

The current energies can cause confusion, fear, self-deception, lack of faith, and guilt. It can activate immoral or mean actions, perverted desires, or addictive tendencies. You may feel weak, unmotivated, or discouraged. Hypochondria is also possible, but so is the risk of infection and poisoning, so be vigilant with your health.

Relationships can be susceptible to jealousy and paranoia, so be mindful of your words, thoughts, and actions. Be aware of your acquaintances, as you could be a victim of lies, gossip, deceit, or scandal. Even if there is truth to things being said about you, keep calm, keep your wits about you. Pushing back in the wrong way can come back to bite you.

Don’t allow fear, paranoia, or confusion to get the best of you. Put all that energy into a project that requires your thoughts and creativity. You can overcome all this heavy energy by keeping your focus on positivity and the right kinds of self care.

For our meditation time, get yourself into your quiet safe space and use the tools that make you comfortable. Use your meditative breathing, cut cords, and look into yourself. Focus on the positive aspects of your life, bring them to the forefront. You deserve these wonderful things, and it is imperative that you believe this. Love yourself and those who are worthy of you. Cut loose the toxins, in whatever form they may be. Hug yourself, long and deeply. You are worthy of all the goodness.

Thank you all for sharing this deep, personal ritual each month. Much love to you all.

Article: "July 2024 Dark Moon" by HEOP Liath Sahjaza

July 2024 Dark Moon
Article by HEOP Liath Sahjaza

Welcome to July’s Dark Moon ritual. Cut cords, cleanse yourself, and get ready for the new beginnings’ energies of New Moon.
This moon finds us in Cancer, so it is a good time to commit to personal goals that express the positive energies of the sign of the Crab. These include honoring our deepest, most irrational and intimate feelings. Recognize the sense of security and safety we get from whatever it is we call home, at least, I hope we all have a secure place to call home. Allow yourself to accept support, while also offering support to others. Starting a project aimed at improving our domestic lives is a good idea for the energies in the air at this time. Concentrate on new ways to enhance family life and domestic situations, and to build up your feelings of security and safety.
With this potent Cancer energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives that will benefit us well beyond this Moon cycle. What do you need to talk to yourself about as you take your meditative inner journey that can help you fulfill these tasks? How is your home and domestic situation? Family does not necessarily mean biological relatives, but sometimes we have chosen family. Even if you are estranged from anyone or your loved ones have passed on, enjoy the family you have.
It is time to set your intentions for the coming month. This Dark Moon energy helps reset any doubts and insecurities you might have. With this maternal energy of Cancer on your side, the spiritual meaning is about nurturing your hopes and honoring your feelings as you open the door to the second half of the year. Submerge yourself in the emotional waves of this Dark Moon.
The energy is especially comforting and protective, creating a safe and cozy bubble within so you can safely explore your emotional desires and set intentions that are aligned with your heart. Connecting with the things that make you feel nurtured is a big part of the spiritual meaning, so allow yourself to gently roll with the ebb and flow of your true feelings. Be loving and gentle to yourself, but also honest as you dig deep into your heart and start drawing in whatever energy you need to feel safe and secure.
Know that you deserve the very best. Much love to you all.

Embracing the Chaos: The Unconventional Journey of Misanthropik Torment
Article by Erik Leviathan

Misanthropik Torment stands as a testament to the raw, unfiltered essence of metal music, driven by the relentless spirit of its creator, Erik Leviathan. Through a complete DIY approach, the project rejects traditional music industry norms, embracing full independence in production, management, and marketing. This article delves into the chaotic yet fascinating journey of Misanthropik Torment, exploring how they have carved a niche in the extreme metal scene with their unique sound and fierce independence.

The Genesis of Misanthropik Torment
From its inception, Misanthropik Torment was built on a foundation of do-it-yourself principles. Erik Leviathan, the band's founder, insisted on a hands-on approach to every aspect of the band's creation and operation. This ethos not only shaped their music but also their identity within the metal scene.

Erik Leviathan's Vision
Erik Leviathan envisioned a band that was not just a musical project but a movement. His vision was to create a sound that was both raw and uncompromising, reflecting his deep-seated views on society and culture. This vision has been a guiding force for the band, pushing them towards unique musical territories.

A Unique Sound Emerges
As the band progressed, a distinctive sound began to take shape, characterized by its aggressive blending of genres and thematic darkness. This sound, which began as an experiment, has now become their signature, setting Misanthropik Torment apart from their contemporaries in the metal scene.

The Philosophy of Independence: Rejecting Traditional Music Labels
Misanthropik Torment has always stood apart by rejecting traditional music labels, choosing to carve out a unique path in the metal scene. This decision has allowed them to maintain a pure, unadulterated form of expression, free from the constraints typically imposed by commercial interests.

Self-Production and Management
The band takes pride in handling all aspects of their music production and management. This DIY approach ensures that every chord and lyric remains true to their original vision, providing fans with an authentic experience.

The Freedom of Artistic Control
With complete control over their music and image, Misanthropik Torment enjoys the freedom to experiment and evolve without external pressures. This independence is not just a choice but a necessity in preserving the integrity of their sound and message.

The Sound of Rebellion: Blending Extreme Metal Genres
Misanthropik Torment has always been known for its ability to blend various extreme metal genres into a cohesive sound. This fusion creates a powerful platform for their themes, making their music not just heard but felt on a visceral level.

Themes of Misanthropy and Anger
The band's music is deeply rooted in themes of misanthropy and anger, reflecting the darker sides of human nature. Their lyrics often explore the depths of human despair and societal flaws, providing a cathartic experience for listeners.

Article: "Ambience" by Devin J. Meaney

Ambience
Article by Devin J. Meaney

I always talk about music, but anyone that actually knows me knows I have a thing for listening to ambience (recently even more so than listening to music). I am known here for my underground music writing but I have realized that in all my years of ambience consumption I have never once spoken of it! I have spoken of noise and noisecore and gorenoise and any kind of “anti musical” noise you can probably think of—but on the other end of the spectrum it seems I have failed to bring that to the light completely!
Ambience can vary depending on your palate. There is white noise, brown noise, red noise—but my interest is not in definition. My interest is showcasing the many differing ways you can enjoy audio ambience!
Some might want to listen to some red noise while watching the galaxy as they float by in their spacecraft. My most common form of ambience is just a background digital fireplace! Sometimes I add in a sleeping dog or some howling wind or snow. There are also rain storms, thunderstorms and more recently I have even indulged in the sound of purring kittens! Hell, if you wanted to you could turn your room into a hellscape—there truly is an endless supply of audio ambience available for listening…and paired with the right scents and lighting you can make your space completely your own! Whatever pleases you—there is probably an ambience for that!
If you have interest, just hit up YouTube and have a “look see” to see what is available. I can almost guarantee there will be something that strikes you as appealing. And seriously—silence can be golden, but with a little added touch and a sprinkle of your “flair” of choice—even the blandest of atmospheres can become bright and whimsical. Or dark and dreary—it truly is up to you!
So why not? Give ambience a shot. It can give energy or melt stress. There is great power in altering your surroundings. And whatever and wherever is positive for you—just go there!

Article: "Reasons to Drink" by Jeremy Void

 Reasons to Drink

Article by Jeremy Void

I showed up at Bell’s house with a liter of whiskey. Hoping he’d want to drink it with me. He said he wasn’t in the mood to drink it that night. His loss, I thought. I drank it all, by myself, wandered the party room downstairs and passed out on the couch.
The next morning I was so frikken hungover. And I had to pee. I don’t think I’d ever drunk that much whiskey to myself before. I pushed myself to my feet and stumbled into the bathroom. Didn’t bother to close the door. No one was there; I didn’t really care. I took a piss. Watched the bright yellow liquid splash in the toilet. Closed my eyes for——
I woke up on the floor. What just happened? My vision was blurry; my mind felt foggy. My head was throbbing. My arm was soaking wet. I assumed I had pissed all over my arm. I felt the liquid; it was thick, runny, and … red. Dark red like blood. Blood. It was blood. I traced the source of the blood to the side of my head. There was a gaping gash there. I must have fallen. I grabbed the sink and hoisted myself up, when I noticed the crack in the sink. The paint on the walls was peeling. I thought nothing of it. I lumbered out of the bathroom and into Bell’s bedroom. He wasn’t there. His Chinese girlfriend named Chunky was sleeping in his bed. I woke her up.
She peered at me. What do you want? I’m sleeping.
I think I split my head on the sink.
Okay?
Can you take a picture of me?
Sure, she said.

One night Lacey and I went to Bell’s because we didn’t want to go to my place and he said we can sleep on the couch in the basement. He gave me some Percosets for fun, I swallowed them, and then he laughed, and I said what? And he said: You just swallowed a bunch of Trauzadone.
Shit.
We went downstairs and started to make out. We were about to have sex. I was so drunk. I fell asleep so frikken fast.
Crrraaash!!!
Glass rained down upon us. What was that? I opened my eyes and looked at Lacey and she was crying and screaming and then I looked to my right and a bunch of guys were throwing glass bottles at the wall behind us. Right above the couch.
Lacey jerked her head up, in shock. A beer bottle nicked her head, swirled, and smashed into the wall, and she was crying so hard.
She said to me: Do something!
I was so tired. The Trauzadone was so strong. I started to speak.
They were still throwing bottles.
I was speechless.
Nodded my head and fell asleep.
What the fuck is going on down there?
I woke up.
Katherine came running down the stairs. Bell, what the hell are you doing? She was so mad. Have you seen my dog anywhere?
What’s going on? I asked them all.
Kat looked at Bell and shouted: Have you seen my fuckin dog? Then turned and looked at Lacey. And who the fuck is she? Then turned and looked at me. Hey, Jeremy. Then back at Lacey. Why the fuck is your head bleeding?
We left that night and had to sleep in the pouring rain.

The day after I turned 21 I woke up somewhere—on a couch, in a strange apartment. Didn’t know where I was. I was only in my underwear. I rolled off the couch and stood and lumbered into the kitchen. No one was around. I reached in the fridge and found a beer and pulled it out and cracked it open.
The door opened and DJ came in. He said: Hey, how’s it feel to be 21?

"Welcome to our November Dark Moon Ritual" by Liath Sahjaza

Welcome to our November Dark Moon Ritual.
By Liath Sahjaza of Temple House Sahjaza

This Dark Moon falls in Scorpio, so this elemental water sign's energy is expected to be prominent in our lives. Scorpio aligns with intimacy, sexuality, assets, control, power, money, sharing, and investments, things to think about as we take our inner journey.

Dark Moons can open a cosmic door that had been previously closed to us, depending on the ability to work through our own insecurities. It is important to strike a balance between what we give and receive, so practice self-care, find your center, and be aware of your emotions and surroundings. Even if you feel provoked, practice mindfulness and be compassionate to yourself and others. This is a thing I, personally, must constantly work on.

Scorpio energies favor working on our self-mastery skills. So, as we take time to go inside, maybe pinpoint those things that make us feel out of control, such as addictions and debts, and work on freeing ourselves of these emotional burdens.

This Dark Moon cycle is also opportune for exploring what is missing in our lives that leads us to engage in these self-destructive behaviors. This can be an opportunity to rid ourselves of junk in our live, both material and spiritual. With this potent Scorpio energy, we have the chance to make important changes in our lives.

Each sign’s energies can teach us valuable things if we are open to learning, and one of Scorpio’s lessons involves learning to dig deeper into the mysteries around us. Taking the time to understand others’ motives can enrich our feelings of intimacy, forgiveness, and meaning. My tendency has always been to react with, “How dare you do that to me!”, instead of trying to understand why, so this is where I have to work harder.

We might want to use this cycle to focus on and develop one special project or relationship to help add purposefulness and depth to our lives.

It can also be a time to seek ways to release our fear of confrontations and heavy emotional situations. I’ve learned that, although they may be uncomfortable, these situations can lead us toward psychological healing and much needed change.

I hope we all can take the energies of Scorpio and apply them to our personal needs and be ready for new beginnings energy of tomorrow’s New Moon.

Much love to you all,
HEOP Liath Sahjaza

Article: "A Cultural History of Masks" by Laura Evans

A Cultural History of Masks
Article by Laura Evans

The history of masks is a fascinating look at human frailty and imagination. Humans have used masks for different reasons throughout time, from blending into scenery to standing out from other people. The main concept behind most masks, with the possible exception of funerary masks, is to hide a person's identity. Masks have been used for religious purposes, for artistic purposes and just for fun purposes.

History of Masks

Masks have been used for thousands and thousands of years in cultures around the world. Early masks were probably made from local materials. Harder-to-find or more precious materials would probably have been used to embellish more important masks in ancient times, as they are now.
Over the centuries, masks became associated with religion. For example, ancient Egyptians considered mummy masks to be an important part of the transition to afterlife. Today, masks made by the Iroquois people are so precious to their beliefs that the Iroquois leadership is requesting the return of face masks from museums and private collections. Traditional Iroquois want to properly care for these masks according to their ancient traditions.
Sometimes, a culture starts to use masks for a specific reason only to have that reason change over time. For example, masks were initially used during carnival to hide people's identities. Wearing masks allowed people to cross class lines and behave in inappropriate ways without fear of shame. As societies' morals and cultures have changed, wearing masks has become less necessary for concealing sexual indiscretions. Today, they are just another part of carnival's atmosphere. This is not to say some naughty things no longer occur behind masks.
Masks have long been featured in entertainment. Masks have been an important part of dances around the world. They have been an essential part of theater in countries such as China, Japan and Korea for centuries. Mardi Gras masks have been a part of American culture since the 17th century. Masks have also been indispensable in literature, plays, movies and television.

Article: "Take Back The Night" by Goddess Rosemary Sahjaza

Take Back The Night
Article by Goddess Rosemary Sahjaza
July 7, 2012 at 9:22pm

Perhaps you recently read about our campaign to re-install basic manners and chivalry into the community at large in our articles in the summer edition of the Sahjaza Newsletter, (June - August 2012). If not, I will tell you something of this now. It has come to our attention that basic manners are at epidemic proportions of moral decay. This is ramped not just in our close-knit community but the community at large.
As I first said in 1985 I say again now, "Chivalry is the new Macho," and please note that, this applies to both, men and women.
I hereby challenge you to do something about this disgusting and degrading behavior. I call upon you to take part in our efforts to take back the night and bring it back to the proper decorum and civility that once ruled our nightside and make it new. Return to what once held us up and apart from others and make it current and trendy. There is nothing honorable in being rude, and snotty and lacking manners, it only makes you look like a disgruntled ass and nothing more then out of control and in need of some sort of hostility counseling, or anger management, or medication. No I think that we are all better than that.
Trolling out and striking at others from behind computer screens does not make you some kind of hero nor is it interesting. In fact, it's rather akin to bottom feeder energy and seeking that should be deplored not heralded by our community (a once respected part of the sub-culture, if we're to continue to be a subculture and not some dying out thought some staged effort by those with an axe to grind).
I see that group bashing is ramped and in style heralded on by those who cheer and applaud this activity, but never are any specific individuals mentioned by name. If there is a person or group you have issue with be bold and name it do not blanket bash groups because your angry with “so and so group” or some individual name them and deal with the issue at hand.
The Sahjaza 2012 objective is to lead by example and to spread the world that respect of Elders is a good thing dayside and nightside. I hope that the concept spreads throughout our community. It would be good for the soul if our community could influence the world at large in more then fashion statement, but in the concept and actions of civility, manners and respect.
The whole world lacks for the most part the rudimentary concept of civility and is so disrespectful and seems to think that this is an okay or cool way to be or rebel. Clearly it's not. This is an underhanded concept that will eventually lead to unrest and hate crimes against those who oppose this concept or any concept that is not with this hateful movement I call the, "Jerry Springer," attitude. Heaven forbid we as a subculture revered for Victorian civility and manners begins to look like that.
Let's all turn back the clock and start to show the world what were really all about, that we hold our Elders up high -- those that are worthy have much to say that is useful and will teach us how to deal with and move though life.
We will show via example that the new macho is chivalry and practice this in our everyday lives not just in nightside or dayside, and we will talk to others about the benefits that traditions and culture bring to your life and the lives of others. This is our year to create the year of the dragon. Feed your inner dragon and carry on this message to all who will listen. If they do not hear you, perhaps they will see you and some day feel you when they are the ones in need of this in their time or turn we have always led by example and will do so now and keep our message on point. I assure you we attempt at all times to practice what we preach.
Blessings and wonderful weekend and summer to you all! Blessed are the Crones, Shaman and Elders in your midst. See what they have to impart on you of their sacred knowledge information and more.

Article: "Technology: A Blessing or a Curse? The Complicity of Complexity, Planned Obsolescence, and Price Escalation" by Goddess Rosemary Sahjaza

Technology: A Blessing or a Curse?
The Complicity of Complexity, Planned Obsolescence, and Price Escalation.
Article by Goddess Rosemary Sahjaza

In today's world, technology is evolving at a rapid pace, with new and improved devices being released every few months. This technological progress can bring many benefits to users, including improved functionality, speed, and convenience. However, it can also lead to the complicity of making equipment obsolete to profit from the long-time user point of view.
One of the primary ways that technology companies achieve this is through planned obsolescence. Planned obsolescence is the practice of designing products to have a limited lifespan or to become outdated quickly, thus forcing consumers to buy new products frequently. This practice benefits companies by increasing sales and profits, but it can be frustrating and expensive for consumers.
In addition to planned obsolescence, technology companies also often engage in price escalation. As technology becomes more advanced and complex, the cost of producing it also increases. However, companies may choose to increase the prices of their products beyond what is necessary to cover these costs, thus increasing their profits at the expense of consumers.
Furthermore, many technology companies have shifted to a subscription-based model, where users pay a monthly or yearly fee to access software or services. While this can provide a steady stream of income for companies, it can also be challenging for users on fixed incomes, such as retirees or those on disability or social security. These users may not be able to afford the high monthly fees for high-end software, leaving them without access to the latest technology.
In conclusion, the complicity of making equipment obsolete to profit from long-time users, price escalation, and subscription-based models can make it challenging for consumers to keep up with the latest technology. While there are some benefits to technological progress, it's essential to recognize the potential downsides and hold companies accountable for their practices. Consumers can make informed decisions by researching products, choosing to support companies that prioritize sustainability and longevity, and advocating for policies that protect consumer rights.
While technology was originally intended to make our lives easier and more convenient, it has become increasingly complicated and difficult to use. This trend has been driven, in part, by the desire of companies to sell more products and services, and to increase their profits by making it harder for consumers to repair or upgrade their devices.
One of the ways that technology has become more complicated is through the increasing number of features and options that are available. While some users may appreciate having more choices, others may find it overwhelming and confusing. This complexity can also make it more challenging for users to troubleshoot problems or to perform basic tasks, leading to frustration and dissatisfaction. Another factor contributing to the complexity of technology is the increasing use of proprietary software and hardware. Many companies have designed their products to be difficult to repair or upgrade, or to work only with their own proprietary systems. This can make it more expensive for users to maintain or upgrade their devices, and can also make it more difficult for third-party repair services to work on them.
Finally, as you mentioned, the trend towards making equipment obsolete has also contributed to the increasing complexity of technology. Companies may design their products to become outdated quickly, or to work only with the latest software or hardware. This can force users to buy new devices more frequently, even if their current devices are still functional.
Overall, it's clear that the increasing complexity of technology is a problem that affects many users. While there are some benefits to having more features and options, it's important for companies to prioritize simplicity and ease of use, and to design products that are easy to repair and upgrade. By doing so, they can help ensure that technology remains accessible and affordable for all users.
Subscription price for paid apps and streaming services and still charging for individual titles within the subscription plan is unfair when it comes up in a search and your ready to watch and they want even more money for that particular title the price of each type of app or service adds up to a hefty price given those who need it the most are shut in those in acclimate locations who are forced to find activities inside the elderly and most on fixed incomes cable was broken by streaming now streaming threatens to become the new pocket gouging giant.
rising cost of subscriptions and the additional charges for individual titles within those subscriptions. This practice can be particularly unfair to those who are on a fixed income or live in remote locations, as it limits their access to entertainment and other media.
One of the main issues with subscription services is that they often lure customers in with a low monthly fee, but then charge additional fees for certain titles or services. This can make it difficult for customers to know how much they will actually be paying each month, and can lead to unexpected charges that are difficult to budget for.
Furthermore, the cost of subscriptions for multiple services can quickly add up, leaving many consumers struggling to keep up with the cost of entertainment. This is particularly true for those who are shut in or live in remote areas, as they may rely on entertainment to stay engaged and connected with the outside world.
While the rise of streaming services has certainly disrupted the cable industry, it's important for companies to prioritize affordability and accessibility for all consumers. This means being transparent about pricing and fees, and offering fair and reasonable prices for individual titles or services. By doing so, they can ensure that streaming services remain accessible and affordable for all consumers, regardless of their income or location.
In summary, the rising cost of subscription services and additional fees for individual titles can be a major burden for consumers, particularly those on a fixed income or in remote locations. Companies should prioritize affordability and accessibility for all consumers, to ensure that streaming services remain a viable and affordable option for all.
the importance of high-speed internet access for all Americans. In today's world, access to the internet is essential for everything from education to entertainment, and even for basic tasks like online banking or job applications.
Unfortunately, many people in rural and remote areas still do not have access to reliable high-speed internet. This can make it difficult for them to keep up with the pace of modern life and can limit their opportunities for education, employment, and social engagement.
The lack of high-speed internet access in rural and remote areas is a problem that needs to be addressed at a national level. Governments and private organizations should work together to build out the necessary infrastructure to provide high-speed internet access to everyone in the country, regardless of where they live.
In addition to the benefits of education and entertainment, high-speed internet access can also be a matter of public safety. In the event of a natural disaster or other emergency, access to the internet can be critical for receiving updates and staying informed about evacuation orders or other important information.
Overall, the need for high-speed internet access is clear, and it's important for policymakers and organizations to prioritize this issue. By doing so, they can help ensure that all Americans have access to the tools and resources they need to succeed in today's world.
AI is important to all areas of business and the arts because it has the potential to enhance and automate processes, improve decision-making, and create new opportunities for innovation and creativity. In business, AI can help companies optimize operations, reduce costs, and increase efficiency. For example, it can be used to analyze data, identify patterns, and make predictions, which can help businesses make more informed decisions. In the arts, AI can be used to create new forms of art, such as generative music and visual art, and to assist artists in their creative processes. Furthermore, AI is becoming increasingly accessible, with a growing number of tools and platforms available to businesses and artists alike. This accessibility is opening up new opportunities for innovation and creativity, as well as making AI more affordable and easier to use. As a result, AI is becoming a gateway to the future, providing the key to unlocking new possibilities and driving progress across all areas of business and the arts.
The new opportunities with AI are so astonishing and the door is wide open to new opportunities as fast as we can think of them but software must be affordable. AI is a gateway to the future but we all need a key.

Announcement from Erik Leviathan (Misanthropik Torment): New album "Declaration Of War" releases 8-28-2023

Announcement from Erik Leviathan (Misanthropik Torment): New album "Declaration Of War" releases 8-28-2023

I would honestly like to say that it brings me great sadness to make this announcement however it is actually somewhat relieving. When I first started Misanthropik Torment it was never about getting rich and famous or about selling records in an age where all music is free. I never cared about any of that. My goal was a simple goal which was to speak my truth and reach as many people as I possibly could. I have done both. This next album "Declaration Of War" will complete the message of Misanthropik Torment. The music will remain on all streaming platforms for everyone to enjoy at their Is leisure. We hope our message will carry on and be heard by the masses. Misanthropik Torment has said all it can say without becoming redundant. With that Misanthropik Torment bids you all a Farwell However, I'm not done with music I just feel that Misanthropik Torment has said everything that it can say. Misanthropik Torment is a vehicle meant to deliver the truth of our world. This next album will deliver that truth in such a way that I just don't see how the project would have anything else to say. There will be another project. Something that no one would have expected from me. I won't just leave you guys hanging.
Eat Sleep And Breathe Metal.

Article: Sahjaza's View of Eldership in the Community

Sahjaza's View of Eldership in the Community

Those who created the Community are responsible for creating future Elders who are steadfast, intelligent and compassionate enough to bring forth the vision of the first pioneers. Elders have achieved a certain level of recognition. They’re authentic and have put in their time and service to their House and Community. Elders understand what the Community is, where it came from and how it got this way. Elders are respectful people who follow the Code of Conduct and Black Veil. Elders have good day and nightside balance. Temple House Sahjaza’s Elders earn the title and are allowed to use the title within the House and Community at large. They also receive printed official certificates presented in ritual when possible. Other House members use the Elder’s title when addressing the individual. There are differences between a House Elder and Community Elder. Logically, you have to be one before the other. A Ronin cannot be a Community Elder. Temple House Sahjaza holds Elders to a higher standard of everything including but not limited to conduct, leadership and living by example on all levels. It’s vital that Elders behave with personal responsibility, fulfilling their responsibilities and obligations to their house, community and beyond.

Article: "Old Rock" by Devin J. Meaney

Old Rock
Article by Devin J. Meaney
Recently I have been getting into a lot of old rock. Anyone that follows me in the zines I am associated with knows that my tastes lean a bit on the “extreme” side—but as of late my musical interests have mellowed a bit and I have been listening to Steppenwolf, AC/DC, Eddie Money, The Doors, Aerosmith, Sabbath, Alice Cooper and a ton of other bands and artists from times long passed. I was originally thinking about doing reviews for the albums I purchased recently but as I don’t know much about this kind of music I figured I would just make a single writing—this one.
Aside from listening to bands like Metallica and Megadeth when I first started listening to metal, I have always veered towards black metal, goregrind, street punk, hardcore, etc. If you asked me to listen to a band like Steppenwolf when I was a teenager I’d probably roll my eyes and tell you to throw on some Dying Fetus or something. But it appears that as I have gotten a bit older the seemingly ancient music of the 70s and 80s really seems to strike a chord with me.
I will also mention that most of the physical albums I purchased involving these older acts I got from the library or local thrift stores for like a buck apiece. So not only do I highly suggest searching the annals of rock history I’ll also throw it out there that you should look into getting some music from places like The Salvation Army and shops similar. You never know what you will find! There will probably be lots of stuff you have no interest in but there always seems to be at least one “diamond in the rough” and for the sake of a few quarters or so a new album (or new to you) in your hands is something that will usually brighten the day of music fans/collectors.
Again—this is all new to me and I don’t know enough to give a proper review. But man, some of this stuff is really damn good! Give it a try! -Devin J. Meaney
