Hopping on over to the Gore Grinder account on YouTube I came to “Malignant Design” by Genestealer! This is a short EP released in 2024! Genestealer has been active since 2018 but this is my first time listening to them—and I can say that I like what I hear!
The first thing worth mentioning is the production. The guitars are a bit thrashier but the production (and in places the percussion) reminds me of “A Chapter of Accidents” era Dead Infection. As I am a big Dead Infection fan this is far from an insult! The vocals do differ though!
Even though this is grindcore at times I even hear a touch of Hatebreed-esque riffage thrown into the mix! Not all that common for grind but Hatebreed is a decent band no matter your feelings on the topic. Seriously though—this is a pretty decent noxious little burst of abominable grinding!
Oh! These guys are from California! This is their third release and it is available in streaming and digital format! Just fucking listen to it! -Devin J. Meaney
