Chapter Twenty-One
“You've never seen death? Look in the mirror every day and you will see it like bees working in a glass hive.” - Jean Cocteau
Doctor! I think she’s responding.
“Miss Burton, take it easy now and take a deep breath.” He was speaking to me in hushed comforting tones. Something covered my nose and mouth and there were people rushing around in a panic.
“BP coming up – 110 over 70,” reported a woman standing at the back of the room while another voice reported, “Pulse returning to normal – 100 and falling.”
“Damn, that was a close one.” The doctor looks into my eye with his light… and I looked right back at him.
