Poem: 'Invictus' by James Kenneth Blaylock

Invictus
by James Kenneth Blaylock, 6-21-18

invictus, convict us to face the breath
of battle upon the breeze, though it be

not easy, shall we dig ourselves in for
the ensuing sweaty bodies of enemies

boiling blood will spill atop the battlefield,
may God have mercy on us, this very day

together melding history - chosen victory -
planting us as conquering historians, ivy
