Film Review: Ghost In The Shell by Sophia Cynthia Cabral

Action, Crime, Drama
Release date: March 31, 2017
Director: Rupert Sanders
Music by: Lorne Balfe & Clint Mansell
Starring: Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbaek, Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt
The effects are amazing, the story seems to differ a bit from the manga/anime but overall it’s still a masterpiece. The acting is quite good especially how you can actually buy into the “bond” between the Major and her partner or the Major and Dr.Oulet that works with her, this last one being a bit of a mother-daughter relationship. The memory alteration gig is recurrent during the show and the plot advances gradually, in some moments like the sniping scene, one can actually feel bad for the characters and relate to them.
However the fact an oriental-based product is live-acted by an all-American cast is one of the points I severely dislike. -Sophia Cynthia Cabral
